Longer or primary development time doesn't necessarily make for a better game automatically. After a game has been finished for the original platform, I would think it easy enough to make some adjustments if possible or necessary, and I think in this case, the Atari version has been made to enhance the original. But that's just how I see it - you should definitely try it out yourself.
